Greensboro, N.C. - Wake Forest forward Heather Aughinbaugh was named ACC Player of the Week in field hockey for the week of October 1. The junior from Denver, Pennsylvania scored both goals in the team's 2-0 shutout of second-ranked North Carolina. The win was Wake Forest's fourth straight, all of which have come against teams ranked in the top 15 nationally. It was the second 2-0 victory over the Tar Heels of the season, as the Deacons came away from Chapel Hill with a win on September 26. Aughinbaugh also notched a goal in that game. Aughinbaugh leads the Deacs in goals with five, in assists with four and in points with 14. With the victory over the Tar Heels, the Demon Deacons stand at 7-3 (1-1 ACC). They will be in action on Wednesday night when they take on the 13th-ranked Duke Blue Devils at Kentner Stadium at 7 p.m.
