Volleyball Hosts Florida State And Virginia This Weekend

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest volleyball continues its home stretch, hosting Florida State and Virginia this weekend. The Deacons look to avenge their 3-0 loss earlier in the season to the now red-hot Seminoles, who are riding a six-game winning streak. Wake looks to improve the series against Virginia this year to 2-0. Wake is 15-8 overall and 8-5 in the ACC and sits right below Florida State at fifth place in the ACC rankings.
Wake Forest is riding a four-game winning streak, two of those at home, after its defeat over Maryland on Tuesday 3-1. The Deacons out hit the Terrapins with a .228 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Katy de Roeck contributed defensively, while middles Margaret Davidson and Jessica Hauff posted .265 and .182 hitting percentages respectively. As well outside hitter Trina Maso de Moya tallied 18 kills, 13 digs, three service aces and three block assists.
ACC Honors of the Week include Maso de Moya sharing the ACC Player of the Week with Florida State's Norisha Campbell. Maso de Moya also is an ACC statistical leader in service aces (0.65 pg) and digs (4.55 pg) and takes fourth place in kills (4.13 pg). Ashlee Phillips leads in assists (12.99 pg) and is third in hitting percentage (.343). Margaret Davidson is fourth in hitting percentage (.341) and seventh in blocks (1.12 pg). The team leads in kills with 16.34 pg.
The Deacons host the Seminoles on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Gym. Florida State will travel to Durham on Friday night to face the Blue Devils before stopping at Winston-Salem. The Seminoles are riding a six-game winning streak right now, including a recent win 3-2 victory over Georgia Tech. Florida State's winning streak began with its 3-0 defeat over Wake Forest in Tallahassee on Oct. 14. Florida State is 12-9 overall and 8-4 in the ACC.
Wake hosts Virginia on Sunday at 5 p.m. The Cavaliers come into the match after suffering a 2-3 loss to Duke on Oct. 30. Last time out the Deacons swept Virginia 3-0. Virginia is 7-14 overall and 3-10 in the ACC.
Florida State leads the all-time series record versus Wake 2-10 and Virginia owns the record 9-10.
Wake Forest hosts Florida State on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. and Virginia on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m.
