Volleyball Wins in Three Games at Alabama Tournament

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Wake Forest volleyball team captured a victory over host Alabama in the first game of the Turkey Classic on Friday. The Deacons won in three games, 30-28, 30-28, 30-25, improving their season record to 19-11. Alabama falls to 21-9.
A Demon Deacon trio of Huntsville, Ala. natives helped pace the WFU effort against the Crimson Tide. Sophomore Jessica Hauff posted a strong performance in her home state with a team-high 12 kills for the match. Hauff also served up two aces and assisted on a block. Senior Margaret Davidson contributed nine kills and tallied six blocks (one solo, five assists). The third Deacon from Alabama, sophomore Sara Beth DeLisle, had nine kills and nine digs.
Other Deacon contributors included senior Trina Maso de Moya, who posted a game-high 18 digs, and junior Ashlee Phillips, who collected 35 assists.
As a team, Wake Forest posted a .208 hitting percentage and tallied 46 kills, 14 blocks and six aces. Alabama posted 48 kills but had just a .159 hitting percentage.
Wake Forest returns to action at the Turkey Classic on Saturday, Nov. 24, taking on Middle Tennessee State at 3:00 p.m. (EST). It will be the first meeting between the two schools.
