WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Wake Forest women's soccer team had four players honored Wednesday night at the 2001 ACC Women's Soccer Championship banquet. Emily Taggart and Stacy Roeck earned first-team all-conference honors, Sarah Kate Noftsinger was a second team All-ACC pick and Alli Hunt was named to the All-Freshman team.

Taggart, a senior forward from Pleasanton, CA, becomes the Demon Deacons' first-ever four-time all-conference selection. The school's all-time leading goal scorer with 29 career goals was named first team All-ACC all four years, including the Rookie of the Year award in 1998. Taggart, who has also earned All-Southeast Region honors the last three years, is a two-time preseason honorable mention All-America selection as well. She leads the team in scoring this year with eight goals and two assists on the year.

Roeck, a senior defender from Solana Beach, CA, adds the first-team All-ACC honor to her two second-team certificates earned the last two seasons. A versatile athlete who has anchored the Demon Deacon defense at defender over her career has been moved up to forward occasionally to boost the team's offensive attack. Second on the team in scoring this season with seven goals and two assists, Roeck has put her name all over the Wake Forest record books. She is third on Wake Forest's all-time scoring list with 55 career points, third with 24 career goals, fourth with 77 career games started and fifth with 80 career games played.

Noftsinger, a senior midfielder from Richmond, VA, leads the team with four assists on the year. With 13 career assists, Noftsinger is one assist away from breaking into the top five all-time assist leaders at Wake Forest. One of the hardest working members of the team, it is a well-deserved accomplishment for the league coaches to recognize her talents by voting her on the all-conference team.

Hunt, a freshman midfielder from Charlotte, NC, is tied for third on the squad with three assists on the season. On a team that only lost one starter from the season before, Hunt has seen action in 16 games this season and has started 11 times.

Wake Forest, 9-7-1 overall, finished the regular season tied for fifth in the ACC with a 3-4 conference record. The Demon Deacons drew the fifth seed in the ACC Championship, hosted by Wake Forest at Spry Stadium Nov. 8, 9, 11, and will take on the four seed, No. 15 Clemson, in the first round Nov. 8 at 8:00 p.m.
