Wake Forest vs. Florida State Dec. 16, 2001 - Postgame Quotes

Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser "We started out well. We talked the whole practice that if we didn't throw the ball to them, we would be efficient."

"The first half they shot 63 percent. They shot layups off of our turnovers. If we could take care of the ball better we would be an efficient offensive team. Josh Howard and Broderick Hicks got in severe foul trouble, and we had good help from guys off the bench to start off our first ACC game.

On Darius Songaila "For the most part, Darius prepares to be successful. It has to happen in practice situations. To his credit, he deserves credit because he practices hard all the time."

On Jamaal Levy: "Jamaal gave us a big lift. He has a chance to be a good player. We really needed him tonight."

On playing zone: "We played zone as a matter of necessity. We spent all of Wednesday's practice on preparing the zone because we knew we would have a hard time keeping (Delvon) Arrington out of the lane."

Wake Forest Senior Darius Songaila "In the second half, we took care of the ball and that gave us the runs. We want to come out and win every game."

Wake Forest Freshman Jamaal Levy "When Josh Howard got into foul trouble I knew somebody had to step up."

Wake Forest Senior Antwan Scott "We are definitely closer than we were back at the start of the season. We did great. There are lots of things that we still need to work on such as limiting turnovers and limiting the other team to one shot."

"In the second half we put the pressure on and we kept it up."

Florida State Head Coach Steve Robinson "I thought at halftime, if we could hang in, we'd have a chance at the end. In the second half, they capitalized and made conversions on turnovers. And that's what hurt the most. We tried to chip away during the second half, but somebody always stepped us and stopped the run."

"We couldn't handle Darius (Songaila). He was doing it all, taking jump shots and driving to the basket. It's hard enough to defend five starters, then to have Levy come off the bench and score a carer high 15 certainly hurt."

"Wake has good transition and make good conversions when needed. You can't compare the levels of play. It's like comparing first team to second team."
