WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jason Pariseau was hired as Wake Forest University's new addition to its volleyball coaching staff. Pariseau, a 1997 Ball State graduate, was previously in Colorado Springs where he was head coach at Match Point Volleyball Club and St. Mary's High School in 1999. Prior to Colorado Springs, he coached the Pace Bootlegger Volleyball Club from 1997-1998 in Rochester, N.Y.
"I am very excited for this opportunity to work with such a great university and athletic program," said Pariseau. "We have the opportunity to surprise a lot of teams and make a lot of noise in the NCAA this year."
Pariseau was a collegiate volleyball player at Ball State University, leading the Cardinals to three NCAA tournament appearances and three MIVA Conference Championships.
Head Coach Valorie Baker feels Pariseau brings both experiences as a player and a coach to the team. "I'm looking forward to working with Jason," says Baker. "He will bring a different component to our staff having played at a highly competitive level for Ball State University."
The Demon Deacons are ranked fourth in the 2001 ACC Preseason Coaches Poll. After finishing 21-9 last year and third in the ACC, Wake Forest looks to improve their standings. Key returnees senior outside hitter Trina Maso de Moya, 2000 ACC Player of the Year, senior middle blocker Margaret Davidson and junior Ashlee Phillips look to lead the team to an NCAA appearance.
Jason's wife, Amy Pariseau, was hired as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Her responsibilities include working with the Sports Medicine Department and will be the primary trainer for women's soccer and the cheer and dance team.
