Blacksburg, Va. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the Virginia Tech Fall Invitational on Sunday. After completing singles play on Saturday, the Deacons had just one doubles match on tap for Sunday. WFU sophomore Aimee Smith (Norcross, Ga.) and freshman Katie Martzolf (Indianapolis, Ind.) lost in the championship match to Hampton's Pesatova/Mitackova by a close score of 9-7. Pairing up for the first time this weekend, the Deacon duo won three matches en route to Sunday's appearance in the finals.
The next tournament on the Wake Forest women's tennis team's fall schedule is the ITA Riviera All-American championships, held in Pacific Palisades, Calif. from Oct. 9-14. Deacons Bea Bielik and Janet Bergman will compete in the main draw in both singles and doubles, while Maren Haus has been selected to participate in qualifying rounds for a spot in the main draw.
