#7 Women's Soccer Shuts Out Sacramento State

Wake Forest women??s soccer team finished up their West Coast road trip this afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Sacramento State. The sixth-ranked Demon Deacons, who recorded their fourth shutout of the season, improved to 10-1-1 overall, while the Hornets fell to 1-9-1.
In the 33rd minute of action, junior A.B. Robbins headed the ball into the net off of a corner kick from Alli Hunt. Senior Joline Charlton scored her second goal of the season at the 71:18 mark on an assist from Melanie Schneider. Sophomore Meagan Mullins came off the bench to score the final goal of the game with less than four minutes left in the contest.
Wake Forest outshot Sacramento State 17 to six, allowing the Hornets only one shot in the first half. Hunt and Alena Thom led the team with three shots apiece.
Deacon keeper Erin Regan was credited with the shutout, as she recorded four saves in the game. Sacramento State goalkeeper Michelle Balzouman finished the match with eight saves.
Returning to Spry Stadium, the Deacs will face Tennessee on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
