Recap?|? Final Stats?|? Quotes
* Today's game captains for Wake Forest are #54 Kellen Brantley and #12 Tarence Williams.
* Wake Forest got up 14-0 in the first quarter on two defensive touchdowns. The Deacons' Calvin Pace blocked a Duke field goal attempt, followed by Eric King recovering the ball and returning it 90 yards for the WFU touchdown. One minute and 33 seconds later, linebacker Kellen Brantley intercepted an Adam Smith pass and returned it 29 yards for the score.
* King's return on that play tied as the eighth-longest scoring play in Wake Forest history.
* Both touchdowns marked the first defensive TDs for the Wake Forest since Bryan Ray recovered a fumble in the endzone against North Carolina on Sept. 9, 2000.
* Running back Nick Burney recorded his first touchdown of the season on his longest rush of the season, a 43-yarder in the third quarter.
* Despite committing its first turnover in three games, Wake Forest, the NCAA leader in turnover margin, continued to enjoy the advantage in that category, losing just one fumble to Duke's two lost fumbles and an interception. For the season, Wake is 22-5 in turnover margin (+2.4 per game). Quarterback James MacPherson also continued his streak of interception-free passing, extending that streak to 27 quarters and 149 passes without a pick.
* With six tackles-for-loss, Calvin Pace set a new school record, passing Mike McCary. He now owns 48 career tackles-for-loss.
* Despits its lowest offensive output of the season (224 yards), Wake posted its second-highest point total this season (36 points).
* Wake's 26-point win was its biggest margin of victory since defeating UAB 47-3 on Oct. 23, 1999. It is also the biggest margin of victory in an ACC game since winning at Georgia Tech, 33-6, on Nov. 21, 1987.
