Aughinbaugh Named ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week

Wake Forest senior midfielder Heather Aughinbaugh was named ACC Player of the Week after playing in her last regular season home game. In that game, a 2-0 shutout of 12th-ranked North Carolina, Aughinbaugh scored an unassisted goal, giving her 10 goals and 23 points on the season. After scoring six goals in three games the previous week, including a hat trick against sixth-ranked Penn State, the Denver, Pa. native now has seven goals in her last four games.
This marks the fourth time this season that a Demon Deacon has been named Player of the Week. Aughinbaugh joins sophomore Kelly Dostal (twice) and junior goalkeeper Katie Ridd as 2002 Player of the Week honorees.
