The Black Squad was victorious in game two of the Black, White and Gold World Series on a frigid Thursday afternoon at Gene Hooks Stadium. They finished with a run differential of +8, while the White and Gold squads finished with differentials of + 1 and -9 respectively.

This result leaves the three teams deadlocked at two points, as the squads prepare for Friday's rubber match. Each day, 1st place gets two points, 2nd gets one point, and 3rd receives no points.

The Black Squad's offense exploded for ten runs on nine hits, one day after only being held to a meager two runs. Ryan Hubbard led the potent attack with four hits and three RBI's. Sophomore Ben Ingold had three hits and four RBI's while freshman Jeff Markley added two hits and a pair RBI's. Markley sparked the Black Squad's offense in the first inning with a mammoth two-run homer, which cleared the trees in left field.

Freshman Kyle Young threw three solid innings for the black squad, allowing two runs on three hits. Brian Bach sealed the deal in the final inning, putting a zero on the scoreboard.

The White Squad turned in a solid pitching performance for the second straight day. Seth Hill dominated for three innings, scattering three hits and allowing one run. Redshirt Freshman Chris Caudill added a scoreless inning in the final frame. Offensively, Doug Riepe led the White Squad with a pair of singles.

Jeff Ruziecki's 2-for-3 performance at the plate was the lone bright spot of the day for the Gold squad.

The deciding game of the series will be played Friday at 3:45 pm. The starting pitcher for the Black Squad will be Sophomore Brian Bach, while the White Squad will start junior Gregory Russell and the Gold Squad is yet to be determined.
