Bere Advances To Qualifying Round of ITA All-American Championships

CHATANOOGA, Tenn. - Wake Forest men's tennis player David Bere has advanced to the qualifying round of the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships at the Champions Club. Winning four singles matches in the pre-qualifying round, Bere moves on to the next round, which begins on Tuesday.
Bere was scheduled to play Pete Stroer in the pre-qualifying round of 16, but because a slot opened up in the qualifying round, so both Stroer and Bere were selected as "lucky losers" and did not have to play their fifth pre-qualifying match.
Wake Forest's doubles team of Derrick Spice and Brett Ross lost their pre-qualifying round of 32 match 9-7 to Coren and Jung.
Spice has qualified for the qualifying round of singles play, which begins Oct. 8 and the Demon Deacon doubles team of David Loewenthal and Trent Brendon will begin action in the qualifying round of doubles play, beginning Tuesday as well. Loewenthal has qualified for the main draw of singles play, which begins Oct. 10.
