The Wake Forest women's soccer team fell to second-ranked North Carolina in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, 3-0, in Tallahassee. The loss is the fourth time the Demon Deacons have been defeated by the Tar Heels in an ACC Tournament match.

North Carolina came out attacking early, appearing on the board within the first eight minutes of action. Alyssa Ramsey crossed the ball from the left side to Susan Bush, who booted the ball into the net. ACC Rookie of the Year, Lindsay Tarpley, put the Tar Heels up by two at the 40:16 mark, sending the ball into the box from the right side on a pass from Mary McDowell. North Carolina held Wake to two shots in the first half, one by Gabi Lieb and the other from A.B. Robbins.

During the second half, Tarpley struck again, booting the ball from 25 yards out into the far upper corner of the net. The Deacs' only shot of the second half, a Tracy Chao attempt, sailed over the crossbar with 20 minutes left in the game.

North Carolina held Wake Forest to a season-low three shots, while tallying 16. The Deacs split goalie time between Erin Regan, who recorded three saves, and Kenna Healy, who had one.

"Congratulations to North Carolina. They came in focused and have raised their level of intensity since we faced them last week," stated Coach da Luz. "We took some chances, but failed to convert them and UNC capitalized off of our mistakes."
