Recap?|? Final Stats?|? Notes

Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser "We're happy with the win. I know Temple was picked to win their half of the Atlantic-10 this year, so I think this is a positive step for our team. Statistically I was most impressed with our assists. We had good stretches, obviously not the final three minutes though. I think we beat a good team and a Hall of Fame coach."

On the freshmens' performance: "I think they're doing fine. They're always willing to listen and learn. I was impressed with Strickland in the first half, taking those three charges. Williams was very efficient inside."

Do they (freshmen) make you nervous? Absolutely, with four freshmen on the floor in the first half, I think we did okay. Our kids are a joy to coach, willing to learn in practice and I think they'll play hard at Wisconsin."

On Chaney's zone formations: "Over the years I've tried to learn Chaney's unconventional zone. I think the key to breaking that tonight was Howard's unselfishness."

On encouraging Williams: "You won't find a nicer person than Eric Williams. He's a good kid, he's hard on himself. He's a very willing listener, and he realizes that though he may be the biggest man on the floor, he's still a kid among men."

On the ACC's 25-1 record so far: "I'm more worried about Wake Forest as a team, but nonetheless I'm impressed with the ACC and I root for all of our teams."

Temple Head Coach John Chaney On Eric Williams: "He gave them a great effort inside. I think he'll get better as the year goes on. He and (Vytas Danelius) both beat us on offense and defense, especially on the offensive boards. I think by halftime they already had 12-14 points on putbacks."

On Josh Howard: "He needs to learn to put the ball on the floor. I think that's his biggest weakness. He had good hands and good savvy. He's going to be a great player."

On the game: "We had no defensive stops. We got the score down to 10 or nine or seven, and they came right down and got an easy basket. Our kids need to learn the value of an easy basket. They drove down the middle like they owned us. I almost had a heart attack at halftime. I've never had three freshman on the floor at the same time. They (the freshman) are ziggers and zaggers and that can hurt us. When (Wake) flashed inside, it breaks down the zone. On the zone press and the halfcourt zone, we opened up the middle and they could drive or pass to the left or right. The middle is the most important part in our zone, and we broke down."
