Howard Out With High Ankle Sprain Junior Josh Howard missed today's game because of a high ankle sprain suffered in Thursday's practice. Howard will be evaluated early next week. Howard is the first Deacon to miss an entire game this season because of injury or illness. Broderick Hicks missed the second half of the Duke game with a deep thigh bruise.
For Starters Wake Forest used its third different starting lineup of the season... junior Steve Lepore made his first start in a Wake Forest uniform... Lepore made 45 career starts in his two seasons at Northwestern before transferring to Wake Forest.
Darius Songaila ... made his 110th career start today ... moved into 12th place on Wake's all-time career scoring list, passing Bob Leonard (1,632 points from 1964-66). Songaila entered today's game with 1,632 career points ... moved into ninth place on Wake's all-time career rebounds list, passing former teammate Rafael Vidaurreta (720 rebounds from 1998-01). Songaila entered today's game with 720 career rebounds. ... scored in double figures for the 10th straight game and for the 23rd time in 24 games this season ... scored in double figures for the 96th time in his career ... recorded his 11th double-double of the season - one short of tying Virginia's Travis Watson for the most in the ACC ... has five double-doubles over his last seven games ... sank his first three-point field goal since Dec. 16 vs. Florida State. Broderick Hicks ... Played in his 121st career game, tying Anthony Teachey for the sixth-most games played in Wake Forest history ... scored in double figures for the third straight game and for the 11th time this season ... his two highest-scoring games of the season have both come in the last eight days - 23 points at FSU last Saturday and today's performance
Taron Downey ... made his fifth consecutive start ... made and attempted a career-high number of free throws. In fact, before today, Downey was 6-of-9 from the line in his first 23 games combined
