Wake Forest vs. Cincinnati Feb. 9, 2002 - Postgame Quotes

Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser

"I have to give them credit, Cincinnati is a good team. We allowed them to shoot. Our defense on the perimeter was horrific, allowing them to shoot 58% in the first half. How many games do you win when you give up 103 points? They didn't miss that many shots and we didn't stop them nearly enough. What we were doing wasn't working. We need to feel compelled to stop people - that is not our strong suit. When they made their stretch with the two big three's, we needed to match it."

On Josh Howard's absence... "Josh is a good player, but I think we had enough guys available to win the game."

On Clemson... "We've played them at home, now it's our turn to go there. We will find out more about ourselves on Wednesday night."

Wake Forest Senior Forward Darius Songaila

"It's hard to win when you come down, trade baskets two for three. We had to get defensive stops and we didn't. Every time they went to the line, they converted."

"It's hard to win when they score 103 points. In the first half, we gave up a lot of second shot opportunities for them - it is something we need to work on."

Wake Forest Senior Guard Broderick Hicks

On Steve Logan... "Some GM needs to draft this guy. I was in his face, over his face, he faded away from I don't know how many feet! He made unbelievable shots-I guess he's been doing it all year. I'm not used to someone scoring 30 points on me, but that's a legitimate 30."

On Josh Howard's absence... "Defensively, I think Josh is one of the best in America. We really could have used him today."

Cincinnati Head Coach Bob Huggins

"I didn't think we were very good defensively and we didn't rebound the ball very well. Every time we play against different teams and different styles, we don't have a lot of time to get ready, but we make adjustments."

On Steve Logan... "He's been as consistent, probably, as anyone we've had in my thirteen years here. He's the only guy who has been consistent day in and day out and we need more guys to do that."

On Immanuel McElroy... "We've been waiting for him to do that - but he's so unselfish that he doesn't shoot the ball, even in practice. I think he spends most of his energy on the defensive end."

On Wake Forest... "They're really good. Skip does a great job-puts them in position to run."

On the difference between Prosser's Xavier team and WF team... "It's a lot more civil to play in this environment. At Xavier, they pressed more, but they couldn't make shots like this team can."
