Men's Tennis To Face Tennessee In NCAA Tournament

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Wake Forest men's tennis team was one of 64 teams selected to the NCAA Tournament Thursday evening. The 26th-ranked Demon Deacons (17-5) will play No. 5 Tennessee (19-6) in the first round at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 in Knoxville, TN. The winner will then advance to the second round, 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 12 in Knoxville and will play the winner of the No. 23 North Carolina versus No. 39 Virginia Tech first round match. The second round winner will then advance to the NCAA Championships, May 18-21 at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.
Wake Forest's number one singles player, David Loewenthal, was one of 64 players selected for the NCAA Singles Championship, which will begin Wednesday, May 22nd in College Station. Loewenthal, a sophomore from Franklin Lakes, NJ, is the 41st-ranked singles player in the nation with a 30-12 record. The NCAA Singles Championship draws will be announced on Monday, May 20.
Head coach Jeff Zinn takes the Demon Deacons back to the NCAA Tournament for the third time and the second year in a row. Wake Forest is 0-3 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, falling in the first round of all three appearances. Last year the Deacs lost 4-3 to Fresno State in the first round at BYU in Provo, UT.
