Volleyball Falls To Ohio 3-1, Faces Virginia Tech Tonight

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team dropped a 3-1 setback to Ohio Saturday afternoon. Playing host to the four-team Deacon Invitational at Reynolds Gym, Wake Forest jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Bobcats, winning the first game 30-26, but then lost the next three 30-26, 30-24, 30-26.
Junior right side hitter Ashley Fisher paced the Demon Deacons with 17 kills and added 11 digs. Left side hitters Valerie Rydberg (13 kills, 12 digs, 3 service aces) and Sara Beth DeLisle (12 kills and 11 digs) added some firepower for Wake, but not enough, as Ohio hit 30.2 percent as a team, and recorded 11 blocks for the match.
In the first match of the day, Virginia Tech outlasted Auburn in a sloppy match, winning in three games by scores of 30-16, 30-24, 30-21.
The Deacon Invitational will conclude this evening with Ohio (2-0) versus Auburn (0-2) at 5:00 p.m. and Wake Forest (1-1) versus Virginia Tech (1-1) at 7:00 p.m.
