Women's Soccer Finishes Nike Invitational Undefeated

Tallahassee, FL - The Wake Forest women??s soccer team wrapped up the Florida State Nike Invitational with a victory over the Oregon State Beavers, 2-1. Along with the Deacs?? shutout over Oregon on Friday, they remained undefeated for the weekend.
Wake??s first goal came at the 30:08 mark of the first half as Sarah Kozey lofted the ball over a crowd of defensive players to Alena Thom, who sent the ball in the net.
During the second half, Katie Johnson connected on an assist from Sarah Kozey to put the Deacs up 2-0. The Beavers didn??t answer the Deacs?? offensive efforts until the 63:15 mark with a goal by Stacey Mescher, assisted by Jillian Nicks.
Oregon State??s goalkeeper, Jo Fletcher had five saves for the match, while Wake goalie Erin Regan had none.
Wake Forest??s offense dominated the game as the Deacs took 18 shots, including 12 in the second half, while Oregon State only had four. Wake also tallied seven corner kicks to Oregon State??s one.
The Deacs will travel to Elon, NC on Tuesday, September 3 to face the Phoenix of Elon University. Game time is set for 4:00.
