#13 Women's Soccer Holds On to Defeat Davidson

#13 Women??s soccer remains undefeated at 5-0 as they survived the Wildcats of Davidson. The 3-1 victory continues the Deacs??expectations of a perfect non-conference season.
Davidson appeared first on the board with Leigh Anne Hoskins scoring off of a corner kick from Tara Maloney. The Deacs tied up the game on a header from A.B. Robbins, assisted by Gabi Lieb. The score at the half was 1-1.
Sarah Kozey??s offensive efforts shined in the second half as she took seven shots and scored a goal on assists from Alena Thom and Katherine Winstead. Thom also contributed to the Deacs?? victory, scoring the game-winning goal at the 80:12 mark.
Wake Forest??s defense held Davidson to eight shots for the game, while goalkeeper Kenna Healy tallied three saves. Wake Forest continues to outshoot its opponents, totaling 26 shots on the night. The Deacs had 13 shots on goal to four from the Wildcats.
??Davidson was a tough competitor. They pressured us to play are best and have improved 100% from last season,?? stated Coach da Luz. ??We stuck to it and created opportunities for scoring. Tracy Chao and Melissa Murray-Hobbs made great impacts in the second half as subs. Katherine Winstead continues to dominate the field. This game was great preparation for this weekend??s competition.??
Wake Forest will host the adidas Invitational this coming weekend, September 13-15. The tournament will feature Wake Forest, along with Loyola Marymount, USC and Vanderbilt. Friday??s games will match up USC against Vanderbilt at 5:00 pm and Wake against Loyola Marymount at 7:30 pm. Sunday??s matches pair up Loyola Maryount and Vanderbilt at 11:00 am and the Deacs against USC at 1:00 pm.
