Two Singles and One Doubles Team Advance to Finals

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team had a successful second day of competition at the Tenth Annual William & Mary Invitational Saturday. Karin Coetzee and Elizabeth Proctor both won their semifinal singles matches to advance to the finals of their respective flights and the Demon Deacon duo of Katie Martzolf and Danielle Schwartz advanced to the finals as well.

Coetzee, a sophomore from Bloemfontein, South Africa, defeated Katie Boomershine from William & Mary in straight sets, winning the second flight semifinal 6-0, 6-3. She will face Eldina Fazlic from Illinois in the finals tomorrow.

Proctor, a junior from Myrtle Beach, S.C., blazed past Danielle Hock from Marshall in straight sets, winning the fifth flight semifinal 6-3, 6-1. She will face William & Mary's Lingda Yang in the finals tomorrow.

Wake Forest's Martzolf and Schwartz fought past Choe and Knue from Illinois 8-6 in the quarterfinals of the doubles B flight and then made quick work of of deVilliers and Smith from Miami, winning the semifinal 8-1. They will play Olsen and Sherbakov of William & Mary in the finals tomorrow.

Aimee Smith lost in the semifinals of the fourth singles flight to William & Mary's Kari Olsen 6-1, 6-2. She will take on Katie Karhohs of Richmond tomorrow in consolation play.

Martzolf will play No. 41 Mari Toro from Miami tomorrow in the consolation round of the first singles flight.

Schwartz beat Carolyn Kramer from Virginia Tech 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in a singles flight 3 consolation match. She is slated to play Lindsay Cox from Richmond tomorrow.

Coetzee and Smith lost 8-2 to Muth and Wei from William & Mary in the semifinals of the doubles A flight and then dropped a 8-6 decision to Johnson and Sukner from Marshall in consolation play. They are scheduled to play DaCosta and Rutherford of Michigan tomorrow.

Proctor and her partner Seiverling from Temple fell 8-5 to Bennacer and Skaza from Miami in doubles C flight consolation play.
