Volleyball Sweeps Duke 3-0

DURHAM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team opened conference play Tuesday night with a dominating performance over Duke, winning three games straight by scores of 30-28, 30-25, 30-25. The Demon Deacons never trailed the Blue Devils by more than one point the entire match and put away 60 kills as a team, while holding Duke to 41.
Sophomore middle blocker Kim Stern led the way for Wake, hitting .522 with 15 kills. Junior outside hitter Ashley Fisher came up with 15 digs to go with nine kills and senior setter Ashlee Phillips posted 46 assists.
Wake Forest improves to 6-7 overall and 1-0 in the ACC with the win and Duke falls to 12-4 overall and 0-1 in the ACC with the loss. The Demon Deacons return to action on Friday when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to play Florida State at 7:00 p.m.
