Volleyball Falls In Four At Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Wake Forest volleyball team lost 3-1 to Florida State Friday night. After falling behind 30-20 in the first game, the Demon Deacons (6-8, 1-1) fought back winning game two 30-28. The Seminoles (9-4, 1-0) stormed back, winning game three 30-23 and game four 30-18 to take the match.
Sophomore middle blocker Kim Stern led Wake Forest with 10 kills and a .421 attack percentage to go with two blocks. Redshirt freshman outside hitter Valerie Rydberg turned in another solid performance putting away nine kills, tallying two blocks and leading the team with 10 digs. Senior setter Ashlee Phillips led the Deacs with 27 assists. Freshman middle blocker Christy Williams came off the bench to register six kills and two blocks in three games.
Kristin Frye led Florida State with 20 kills and nine digs. Jennifer Anderson had 10 digs to go with 56 assists. Alisha Carr posted five blocks and Alex Sevillano tallied 15 kills for the Seminoles.
Wake Forest falls to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in the ACC with the loss and Florida State improves to 9-4 and 1-0 with the win. The Demon Deacons return to action next weekend when they return home to host Virginia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday Oct. 4 and Maryland at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 in Reynolds Gym.
