Wake Forest head coach Skip Prosser "Today I thought we'd play heartfelt and would come out strong. I was pleased with our effort and unselfishness (23 assists on 34 baskets). It was a good game to win and no one got hurt."
"(Taron) Downey is a good shooter. He is a kid who throughout his career has found a way to make baskets. He comes to practice early and leaves late."
"Gray has a chance to be really good. He had a splendid (first) half that was almost perfect. He made a mistake at the end of the half, but I couldn't be more pleased with his effort."
Looking ahead to the Duke game: "It will be the ultimate litmus test to this point. So much of the game on Sunday will be determined on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at practice. We must be focused."
On Josh Howard: "Josh takes pride in his defense. We ask him to be a leader, score baskets, and guard the opponents' best man. That's not an easy task, especially for someone who missed the first 2-3 weeks of practice."
Elon head coach Mark Simons "It's hard to prepare your kids for the physical nature of the game when you're playing a team like Wake, with their size and physical nature. I thought their guards got up in us. But this is such a great experience for our kids to face. They do so many things we can't emulate in practice.
"Wake Forest took us out of everything (offensively). There wasn't much we could do."
"We felt like we needed to get off to a good start. We thought that if we could execute and get good looks, that we would get on the board. But we struggled early."
"Downey and Gray got up in us and Josh Howard took Scottie (Rice) right out of his game. He had a hard time getting on track. Howard made it difficult for him to get the ball, and once he got it, he made him give it up."
