A Wake Forest Loss...
- Moves WFU's all-time record to 369-556-34 with an all-time ACC record of 95-240-5.
- Gives the Deacs an 7-19 record all-time against Georgia Tech.
- Halts a streak of 10 games in which WFU has won coming off a loss. The Deacs have not lost back-to-back games since dropping three in a row in Sept., 2001.
- Marks the third straight game in the series that has been won by the visiting team.
Early Score
Georgia Tech's touchdown on its opening drive marked the first time since the season opener at Boston College that Wake Forest has given up a first quarter touchdown. The Eagles also scored on their opening drive of that game. Wake Forest, meanwhile, was held scoreless in the first quarter for the second straight game and for the third time this season. WFU was actually held scoreless in the first half, the second half this season it's been shutout (second half vs. Purdue).
Blocked Kick
Ryan Plackemeier's 25-yard field goal attempt just before halftime was blocked, just the first blocked kick against Wake Forest this season. It also halted a streak of five straight made field goals for Plackemeier.
Anderson Adds to Total
Jason Anderson recorded his 75th career catch in the first half, qualifying him for WFU's career average per reception category in the Deacon record book. His career average of 18.6 yards on his 75th catch sets a new school record, passing Todd Dixon's 17.2 average from 1990-93. Anderson also extended his streak to 14 straight games with at least two receptions, a streak that started with last year's Georgia Tech game.
Barclay Is Back
Running back Chris Barclay recorded his first career 100-yard game, finishing the day with 19 carries for 124 yards. It was WFU's first 100-yard game of the season and first since Tarence Williams had 108 yards at Maryland last Nov. 30. Barclay recorded his 12th career touchdown (third of the season) with a four-yard TD in the third quarter, WFU's first score of the game.
Tale of the Turnover
Today's game marked the first time all season WFU has been even or not held the advantage in turnover margin. Georgia Tech did not commit a turnover while WFU threw two interceptions.
