Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe
"I think this is a hard place to play. Offensively, defensively and kicking game-wise, we came out to play. We played with emotion today. We came into a tough place to play against a team that wanted a piece of us and played as hard as we can."
"We felt like we needed to get Chris Barclay going again. He's healthy. He had a good week last week against Georgia Tech. We knew we had to get him some carries. He did everything today we've expected him to do all along. Certainly when you run the football it gives you a lot of options. Being able to run the football gave us a chance to throw a few times in the first half. We threw about as many times as we needed to. If we can run the football we'll have a chance to win. If we can't run it, it really puts us in a bind."
"We basically looked at what they did to us last year and had a couple of thoughts about some things we could do to balance it out. We came to the field with a better attitude today and a better understanding of what they were going to try to do to us. We had too many running plays in last year. We were the jack of all trades, master of none. We came in today with just two or three running plays that we felt like would be good to us and we just hung our hat on them. Obviously Lobo (Steed Lobotzke) did a nice job picking the right plays."
"The score shouldn't have been that much in the first half. Over and over again we just came up with big plays. Four big plays were the difference at halftime. Our kids just came out mentally to play their best football game. We knew Duke was a tough, hard-nosed football team. They had given us fits two years in a row. "
Kellen Brantley
"We worked on a lot of things in practice. We had to work on our attitude more than anything. Today we were flying around. We were enthusiastic; we were cheering our teammates on."
Cory Randolph
"Our offensive line did a good job of opening up holes and Chris (Barclay) did a great job and dominated. When we were out there we did a good job and we executed. I praise the offensive line. They did a great job."
Chris Barclay
"At halftime Coach (Grobe) made a remark that I was going to be through for the day unless things got out of hand. As a football player you're always wanting to be in the fire, but sometimes it's good to sit on the side and watch. You learn that way also. The coaches formulated a good plan and it worked."
