Senior guard Tonia Brown
"It was a little rusty and we showed that we do have a lot of work to do, but I felt it was an overall good day. It was not too bad. Everybody was a little nervous, but that is expected."
Senior forward Tracy Alston
"At the beginning, it was a little nerve racking getting in here, but after the first drill or so it was great. I felt the energy was great with the group."
Head Coach Charlene Curtis
"I was real pleased with the players effort and their focus. The obviously came ready and prepared for this first practice. Their attitude was great and we were able to get a lot done today. It was not clean or sharp, but I did not expect it to be on the first day. I do expect the effort to be there and it was. If we continue to practice like that we will continue to get better."
"I think the tempo of your practice, not necessarily all fast break, will allow you to get that level of conditioning you need. I think with basketball you can do a lot of running prior to the start of practice to build a base, and we have a solid base, but the only way you get into condition to play is basketball is to do just that - play basketball. We have to the middle of November to get ourselves in shape and it will happen. It will be a matter of time. We like to keep the tempo up in these early practices to help accent the conditioning and move from there."
