Iowa City, Iowa - The Wake Forest field hockey team traveled to Iowa City, Iowa on Saturday, where they defeated Indiana, 6-0. The match was the last of the regular season for the Hoosiers, who finish 8-9, 1-5 in the Big Ten. With the win, Wake improves to 15-1.
The Indiana field hockey team was looking for back-to-back wins over a ranked opponent in its match against No. 1 Wake Forest on Saturday Nov. 1. The Hoosiers defeated Iowa, 3-2 in overtime on Friday.
Four of Wake Forest's goals came in the first half. Ariel Meyers had the first two Demon Deacon goals, the first coming just over nine minutes into the game. She added here second goal just three minutes later. Kelly Doton has the third Wake Forest goal just under15 minutes into the game. Kelly Dostal had the first of her two goals of the match just under18 minutes into the match.
Dostal added her second goal of the match just under10 minutes into the second half. Claire Lawhon added the final goal for Wake Forest just over 18 minutes into the second half.
Indiana senior goalkeeper Molly Pulkrabek made nine saves for the Hoosiers, as Wake Forest was able to get off 22 shots. Indiana had one penalty corner in the match.
Wake Forest stays in Iowa City where they will play the ninth-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday at 1:00 pm, concluding regular season action for the Deacs.
