Winston-Salem, N.C. - Seven Wake Forest men's soccer players were picked to the All-ACC teams by the league's seven head coaches, the conference announced on Tuesday. The list was headlined by senior All-American forward Jeremiah White who was tabbed as the conference's player of the year.
White, a native of Lansdowne, Pa., is Wake Forest's first ever ACC Player of the Year and three-time All-ACC first team selection.
White was joined on the All-ACC first team by senior goalkeeper William Hesmer (Wilson, NC) and sophomore defender Michael Parkhurst (Cranson, RI). It was the second straight year that Hesmer was picked to the first team. He was also a second team selection as a sophomore. Parkhurst made the second team as a freshman last year and is making his inaugural appearance on the All-ACC first team.
The second team featured four Demon Deacons including senior midfielder Vicente Bastidas (Catasauqua, PA), junior midfielder Amir Lowery (Washington, DC), sophomore midfielder Justin Moose (Statesville, NC) and junior forward Scott Sealy (Petit Valley, Trinidad). Moose was a second team pick and the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2002. It was the first-ever selections for Bastidas, Lowery and Sealy.
This year, the ACC introduced its first All-Freshman team. Wake Forest was represented by midfielders Steven Curfman (Raleigh, NC) and Wells Thompson (Winston-Salem, NC).
Maryland also placed seven players on the All-ACC first and second teams. North Carolina had three players while the coaches selected two players from Virginia. Clemson, Duke and NC State had one player apiece. North Carolina's Jamie Watson was chosen as the ACC Rookie of the Year while Sasho Cirovski of Maryland was honored as the league's Coach of the Year.
