Head Coach Charlene Curtis
On the game: "We won that game, but we did not play very well. When we can go 15 of 17 from the foul line in the fist half, then 4 of 16 in the second half, speaks to the inconsistency of our team that has been plaguing us over the years. We just need to get our players consistence every day."
"I look at the box score and I'm not real happy about it. We did out rebound them, but we had opportunities to put the ball in the basket, and we didn't do it. We had 16 turnovers, and I figured we should have had only about 10."
"We need to learn as a team what works for us and then go to that. We have to keep our intensity level up. We had 21 offensive rebounds but still missed a lot of shots."
"There were some good moments. I liked the fact that we were very active on defense. We just need to make sure we stay active and be in the right place. It's just the start, and we have to play better basketball on Monday."
Senior Guard Tonia Brown
On the team's defensive effort: "I was hoping for a little bit better team effort on defense. We have to learn how to be in the right places at the right times. We are still working at it, but we will get better because we will continue to practice. Everybody needs to focus on those minor details that will make us a better defensive team."
On the advantages of having four primary ball-handlers: "I think it helps us out when we run because they won't be able to take one person away from the ball. If you have at least three guards on the court that can run the break, it is easier and faster to get the ball up the court."
