Rydberg Named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Wake Forest's Valerie Rydberg was named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. She led the Demon Deacons in victories over North Carolina and NC State in the final two matches of the ACC regular season last weekend.

Against the Tar Heels, Rydberg recorded a triple-double with 26 kills and 21 digs as the Deacs took a 3-1 win over North Carolina. The next night against NC State, Rydberg had 13 kills, four digs and three service aces in Wake Forest's 3-0 sweep of the Wolfpack.

The two wins over the weekend clinched the number three seed for Wake Forest in the upcoming ACC Tournament which begins Thursday at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Rydberg and the Deacs will face Clemson in the opening round on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
