WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Wake Forest redshirt sophomore Valerie Rydberg was named first team All-ACC thanks to her outstanding 2003 season. Rydberg is the only player in the league who ranks in the top five in both kills per game (4.12) and digs per game (3.54). She leads the Demon Deacons in both of those categories and also ranks first in the ACC and sixth in the nation with 0.72 service aces per game. Rydberg already ranks fifth on Wake Forest's career kills list with 733 in just under two seasons played and is only the third Demon Deacon ever to be named first team All-ACC.
Sophomore Christy Williams was named to the All-ACC second team for her play in 2003. Williams, the 2002 ACC Rookie of the Year, ranks third in the conference with a .362 hitting percentage and her 85 blocks is good for first on the Wake Forest team. Williams currently ranks second all-time at Wake Forest with a .350 career hitting percentage.
