Wake Forest Post-Game Notes Wake Forest at Marquette / Bradley Center - Milwaukee, Wisc. / Feb. 9, 2003

Wake Forest's loss today gives the Deacons... -- a record of 16-3 overall and an end to their four-game winning streak -- a 10-1 record versus non-conference opponents -- a 4-3 record on the road this season including a 2-1 mark against non-conference teams -- a 2-2 record against nationally-ranked teams including a 1-2 mark on the road -- a 7-5 all-time record versus Marquette -- a record of 37-16 in two seasons under Coach Skip Prosser -- an all-time record of 1,274-988

Senior Josh Howard -- recorded his fourth straight double-double, his eighth double-double of the season and the 20th of his career -- had double-figure rebounds for the eighth time this season, the 22nd time in his career -- scored in double figures for the 14th consecutive game, the 17th time this season and the 77th time in his career -- scored at least 20 points for the seventh time in his last eight games -- played in his 115th career game -- started for the 107th time -- the seventh-most starts in school history -- failed to make a three-point field goal for the first time since Jan. 12 at Duke

Sophomore Taron Downey -- has made at least one three-point field goal in six consecutive games and in 16 of 19 games this season -- has made at least two three-point field goals in four of the last five games in and nine games overall this season -- scored in double figures for the 11th time this season, the 16th time in his career

Sophomore Jamaal Levy -- pulled down double-digit rebounds for the fourth time this season -- pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds (previously 11) -- tied a career-high with two blocked shots -- made his seventh three-pointer of the season, compared to three made all of last season -- started for the ninth consecutive game

Senior Steve Lepore -- scored his most points since scoring nine points against Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 30

Miscellaneous Notes -- Continued its streak of out-rebounding every opponent this season -- The Deacons shot a season-low 33.3 percent -- the lowest since shooting 32.7 percent at Duke on Feb. 21, 2002 -- Wake Forest's 26 first-half points tied for its fewest points in any half this season (the Deacons scored 26 in the first half of the Richmond game on Jan. 4). -- One reason the Deacons struggled in the first half is that they scored just nine second-chance points, yet they managed 10 offensive rebounds -- The Deacons held their opponent to less than 50 percent shooting for the 17th time in 19 games this season -- Wake Forest lost for the first time this season when holding opponents to less than 74 points. The Deacons are 13-1 when limiting opponents to under 74 points.
