Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser
"I want to give Clemson credit. In the first ten minutes, I thought we guarded them well, but they got some good looks and they just kept battling and battling. Then they came out in the second half and kept taking it to us. [Edward] Scott is obviously a terrific player and tonight I thought he had a lot of help from some of the other kids."
"We haven't rebounded the ball as well or with the ferocity we need down the stretch lately. We'd been working on it in practice, but again you have to give Clemson credit for working that hard on the glass."
"We told the team about a week ago 'You've got three weeks to work and the rest of your life to remember. And for the rest of your life, you can remember that you were part of a group of guys that not much was expected of and when you get into the real world and leave the hallowed halls of Wake Forest, no one will ever be able to tell you that you can't do something.' That's the big lesson. I don't want to wax too philosophic, but life lessons are what all this about."
Wake Forest Senior Josh Howard
"I just rolled my ankle in the first half. I came down on somebody's foot on a shot I made and was fouled. I'll take care of it tonight. It won't be like last year."
"The rest of the guys are really stepping up and continuing to learn. As I've always said, as long as the guys continue to learn, we'll continue to win."
"The basket in the first half looked like a big old bucket. I've been working really hard on my shot and it is starting to pay off."
"Both teams are great rebounding teams. We knew we had to fight on the glass. It was a great game down there for both teams. We fought very hard and that really helped us win the game."
Clemson Head Coach Larry Shyatt
On Wake Forest: "Wake Forest has had a great season and they are a great team. Skip Prosser has done a tremendous job of blending the greatness of a star like Josh Howard with a core of young players."
On Josh Howard: "I'd love to talk about him, mainly for what he is off the court. He is one of five unheralded seniors in the ACC, the players that didn't come in as McDonald All-Americans, like Eddie [Scott], [Maryland's Drew] Nicholas, and [FSU's Trevor] Harvey. But Josh has really separated himself from the rest. He has put this team on his back and risen to the occasion at the end of many games."
On the game: "We wanted our guys to believe we could sneak in and steal a game on the road. And we believed that we could do it. We played hard in the game and battled on the glass hard against the best rebounding team in the nation. Unfortunately, we gave them a two touchdown spot to start out. They did a great job eliminating our open looks. That was a very good game by Wake, and a very hard fought game by Clemson. We just didn't quite make our shots tonight."
