Men's Tennis Falls to #38 Virginia, 4-3

Winston-Salem, NC - The Wake Forest men's tennis team suffered a home lost to No. 38 Virginia on Saturday at Leighton Stadium. The Cavaliers won two of three doubles matches and then split six singles matches to upset the Demon Deacons, 4-3.
David Bere, Trent Brendon and Brett Ross won singles matches for Wake Forest. Bere fought past UVA's Mike Duquette 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Brendon took out Stephan Nolen at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 7-6 (1) and at No. 6 singles, Ross defeated Darrin Cohen, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3).
Wake Forest's doubles team of Ross and Loewenthal grabbed the lone doubles win, 9-7, over the Cavaliers. WFU's top duo, Mike Murray and Brendon, and the No. 3 doubles, D.J. Spice and Bere, both fell to Virginia, 9-7.
The Demon Deacons fall to 7-5 overall, 0-2 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers improve to 15-2, 2-0. Wake Forest returns to action on Monday, Mar. 24, facing Maryland at 3:00 pm in Leighton Stadium.
