#51 Women's Tennis Drops One to #19 Clemson

Winston-Salem, NC - The 51st-ranked Wake Forest women's tennis team was defeated by No. 19 Clemson Saturday in the Demon Deacons' outdoor and conference opener at Leighton Stadium. The Tigers swept doubles play and won four of five singles matches to finish off the Demon Deacons, 6-1. With only five players able to play, Wake Forest had to forfeit the No. 3 doubles match and the No. 6 singles match.
Elizabeth Proctor had the lone victory for Wake Forest. She stopped Ana Stiglic 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Sandie Knight took her opponent to three sets before falling 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.
With the loss, the Demon Deacons fall to 1-11 overall, 0-1 in the ACC. Wake Forest stays at home on Sunday, March 9, taking on Old Dominion at 12:00 pm at Leighton Stadium.
