Wake Forest vs. Georgia Tech Demon Deacon Post-Game Notes ACC Tournament - First Round May 22, 2003
* Wake Forest drops to 29-23 overall.
* After winning four straight against Georgia Tech spanning the 2001 and 2002 seasons, Wake Forest has lost its last four to the Yellow Jackets.
* With the loss, the Deacons fall in their ACC Tournament opener for the first time since 1997.
* The Deacons committed four errors in the game, equaling their highest mark of the year. They errors led to six unearned runs. Wake Forest had four miscues against Le Moyne on March 9 and lost 6-5. They did the same thing on February 23 against James Madison and won 13-2.
* Two of those errors belonged to Jamie D'Antona. It was the first time this year D'Antona committed two errors in one game and the first time in 65 games dating back to May 13, 2002 at Liberty - an 11-11 tie.
* Ben Ingold tied a career-high with four hits. Ingold extended his hitting streak to nine games. Since returning from final exams, Ingold is batting .481 (13-for-27).
* Jeff Ruziecki's four hits tied a career-high. He did it earlier this year against Wofford and Charlotte. Since returning from final exams, Ruziecki is batting .478 (11-for-23).
* Jamie D'Antona picked up his 240th career RBI with a single in the 7th inning. He is one away from tying Jon Palmieri for the school's all-time RBI mark. He ranks 7th all-time in Atlantic Coast Conference history.
* With eight innings and five strikeouts tonight, Kyle Sleeth moved into fourth place in Wake Forest history with 271 strikeouts and 293 innings.
* Sleeth fell to 1-3 in his last seven starts. The Deacons have averaged just 4.5 runs in those games, committed 10 errors and own a record of 2-5.
* Sleeth threw his third complete game of the year and the sixth of his career.
* Ryan Johnson's two-run homer in the fifth inning was his 9th of the season and his first since April 2 at Davidson, a span of 24 games.
* Wake Forest falls to 0-3 this year in games played in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Deacons lost at Liberty on March 11 and at VCU on May 11.
* The Deacons have lost six of their last seven, their worst seven-game stretch since starting the 1992 season with a 1-7 record.
