WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Amanda Tiller, a senior on the 2002 Wake Forest Volleyball team, has the distinguished honor of being one of five senior honor students from the art department to have their artwork displayed in a solo show for one week at a time in the Charlotte and Philip Hanes galleries at Wake Forest University's Scales Fine Art Center. Twenty-four pieces of her exquisite work were displayed in the upper level for her solo show the week of April 21-25. However, three of her pieces are still up in the lower level, which is open to all Wake Forest students, in the main part of the gallery. The student show will be open until graduation, May 19.
The pieces comprise a triptic, which consists of three different prints, paintings, or drawings, etc., which are grouped together and displayed as one main piece. Tiller's triptic won the highest level of awards given, one of the $50 awards in the show.
An outside hitter from Bristol, Tenn., Tiller provided a consistent presence on and off the court for the Demon Deacons throughout her career and was a valuable reserve, often called upon to come in to games and get the team regrouped and provide a momentum boost. Leading by example, Tiller played through nagging injuries and other adversity, but never gave less than her best in any practice or game. Leading the team with a .424 attack percentage as a rookie, Tiller posted a career high 11 kills against Wright State and Pepperdine and recorded a career high 17 digs against Davidson as a sophomore.
She has been on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee the last two years, she is a member of the Personal Development Committee and also tutors kids once a week at a local elementary school. A Dean's List student and an ACC Honor Roll member every semester at Wake Forest, Tiller is majoring in Studio Art with a minor in Art History and she will graduate on May 19.
