Winston-Salem, N.C. -- The Wake Forest volleyball team dropped a hard-fought and well played match to 19th ranked Louisville on Saturday evening at Reynolds Gymnasium. The Cardinals took game one 30-23, won game two 30-28, and finished off the Deacs with a back-and-forth 31-29 victory. The win improves Louisville to 6-3 and drops Wake Forest to 9-2.
Christy Williams led the Deacs with 13 kills. Valerie Rydberg and Kim Stern both racked up 11 kills while Rydberg led the team with 12 digs also.
Erin Borhart led all players with 47 assists and also came up with 10 digs. But Louisville's tandem of Lena Ustymenko and Sonja Percan were too much to handle, combining for 30 kills.
Wake Forest returns to action on Tuesday evening when they host Gardner-Webb at 6 pm in Reynolds Gymnasium.
