Chris Paul Named ACC Rookie of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest's Chris Paul was named the ACC Rookie of the Week Monday after leading the Demon Deacons to victories over Brown and Clemson.
Paul is the first Wake Forest player to earn the honor four times since Robert O'Kelley in 1997-98. O'Kelley, Loren Woods (4) and Rodney Rogers (5) are the only other Wake Forest players to earn the honor four times or more. In fact, Paul is the first player to earn the honor four times since Chris Duhon of Duke and Marvin Lewis of Georgia Tech during the 2000-01 season.
Paul tallied a career-high 21 points against ACC foe Clemson to help keep Wake Forest undefeated on the season. The freshman guard also dished out three assists, pulled down three rebounds and accumulated four steals in the 78-63 win over the Tigers.
Against Brown, the Lewisville, N.C., native posted six points, four assists and four steals in 25 minutes of play as Wake Forest rolled to the 86-47 victory.
For the week, Paul shot 53 percent from the floor including a perfect 6 for 6 from the charity stripe. He also collected eight steals and seven assists in two games.
