
Women's Tennis Hosts ITA Regionals

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team hosts Wilson ITA Regional Tournament, Oct. 21-25 at Leighton Tennis Courts. The singles finalists and doubles champion from the prestigious event will be rewarded with invitations to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan, to be held Nov. 4-7.
Wake Forest will have six athletes participating in the tournament, including three automatic qualifiers. In the main singles draw and the third seed, will be senior Karin Coetzee. Currently ranked 18th on the preseason national rankings, Coetzee has a bye in the first round and will not take the court until Friday.
Also representing the Deacs in the main draw, will be 14th seed Katie Martzolf, who will face Elizabeth Whelpley of Austin Peay. Rounding out the singles will be Jenna Loeb, Alisha Talbot and Blakely Offutt.
In doubles, fifth seed Coetzee and Ashlee Davis will play on Friday along with 11th seed Martzolf and Loeb. The only doubles team to take the court on Thursday will be Schwartz and Offutt against the duo from University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
The tournament will take begin on Thursday, at 9 a.m. and will run until Sunday.
