Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser
On the Game: "I thought the Yale kids really competed hard. It was their third game in four days. They shot the ball better against us than any other team at this point in the season. I think that's a real credit to Coach Jones. They ran good things. When they had opportunities to shoot the ball, they did so well. Again, it wasn't like we weren't trying to guard them. We forced 23 turnovers so we were out there trying to compete and they deserve a lot of credit. Defensively it wasn't a gem, but offensively we really did a good job sharing the basketball. There were several guys in double figures and we were able to get some guys minutes tonight which will serve us well as the season progresses. "
"I'm really happy for our players, for our fans, the students, and everyone who supports us. They really share in our success. I'm happy for our kids especially. They came here hoping that that kind of dream could become a reality."
"Justin was a little bit under the weather tonight so we tried to limit his minutes. He's obviously a good outside shooter but I think we'll be as good as we can offensively when we have good inside-outside balance. We've sort of had that throughout the course of the season. We're going to play a team Wednesday night that has some good size and will challenge our ability to score inside."
Wake Forest Players Chris Ellis "The coach just told me to run the floor and play defense. He said to get open jumpers and help the team in any kind of way. I thought I did that tonight. The coach let's us shoot. If we're open he says that's a good shot unless there are three people jumping on us. A lot of people don't see me as a shooter but that's something that we've been working on in the offseason."
Kyle Visser "You always dream to be one of the top teams but we're just looking at it one game at a time. We're looking at the next game and Providence is a great team. Come Friday who knows who we're going to play. We have to take it one game at a time."
Chris Paul "After coach finished his pregame talk tonight he said there is something that's happened that's never happened before, even with Tim Duncan, Randolph Childress, and other guys. The guys were looking around like `What's he talking about?'" He said that the AP has named us the number one team in the country. Guys sort of got goosebumps and chills. Then he just said that that doesn't mean much. We have to take it 40 minutes at a time, and that's how we tried to approach the game against Yale."
Yale Coach James Jones
On the Game: "I thought Wake Forest was the number one team going into the season. They have a lot of depth and Skip's a great coach. They are a great team. The only option you have is to go out and play as hard as possible."
"We competed for 40 minutes. We made some adjustments and I see our team as getting better. Tonight was a much closer game than last year's. If we made some free throws when we were down by just 13 it would have made the game a lot closer."
On this year's Wake Forest team, as compared to last year's: "They can go a lot bigger this year. It's a great luxury to have a player like Levy who can guard the 1 through the 5 positions. They also have Danelius who can step out and hit the three. We were here two years ago and the crowd and atmosphere is completely different."
On their schedule: "I try to play top level teams. The kids want to play the better teams. Our players will always remember playing against the top teams in the nation. Our players feel that they can compete on any level."
