Women's Basketball Hosts Princeton Friday Night

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Opening the season with an overtime victory against the Hampton Pirates, the Wake Forest women's basketball team will return home and take on the Princeton Tigers, Friday night in Reynolds Gym. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The meeting will be the seventh between the two teams, with Wake Forest leading the series, 5-1. In the last meeting, on Dec. 19, 2003, Erin Ferrell and then-senior Tonia Brown posted double figures, while Porsche' Jones added eight points, six rebounds and five steals. As a team, Wake forced 31 turnovers and limited Princeton to just 28.0% (7-for-25) from the field and 9.1% (1-for-11) from behind the 3-point arc in the second half.
In the Demon Deacons last outing, Wake Forest defeated Hampton, 82-75, in a thrilling overtime season opener. Ferrell posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards, while junior Liz Strunk posted a game-high 25 points. In addition to Ferrell's double-double, three others found double-digits in points, including 17 by Jones. Junior Cotelia Bond-Young scored 12, shooting 5-6 from the line.
Princeton will enter the game on Friday night with a 1-1 record. Opening the season against Monmouth, the Tigers defeated the Hawks, 52-57, in overtime, while against Lehigh, the Tigers fell, 64-51. Against the Hawks, sophomore Katy Digovich scored a game-high 17 points and freshman Meagan Cowher tallied a double-double in her first-collegiate game.
