QUEENS, N.Y. - The Wake Forest volleyball team dropped its match with Towson, 3-0, in their opening match at the St. John's Classic in Queens, N.Y. Friday evening.
Senior Kim Stern led the Demon Deacon attack with 13 kills and seven digs, while junior Lauren Peterson had eight kills. Sophomore Klarysa Henry led the Deacs defensively with eight digs, while junior Erin Borhart passed out 36 assists.
After the Deacs dropped the first two games, 30-20 and 30-22, Wake Forest made a valiant effort to push the match into a fourth game. The Deacs fell just short, dropping the third and final game 32-30.
The Demon Deacons drop to 12-17, while the Tigers imrpove to 25-7.
Wake Forest will look to rebound Saturday afternoon against St. John's in the consolation match. First-serve for the match with the Red Storm is scheduled for 7 pm.
