Deacons Set to Face Appalachian In Home Opener...
After dropping three games in Houston to start the year, Wake Forest looks to get well during a seven-game homestand, beginning Tuesday against Appalachian State. During this stretch, the Deacons will host the Mountaineers, Liberty and a three-game weekend set with Cincinnati.
Looking for a "W"...
Both Wake Forest and Appalachian State enter Tuesday's game seeking that elusive first victory. The Deacons haven't lost their first three games since the 1996 season. In fact, that year Wake Forest started 0-4. Appalachian is 0-5 after losing a pair of one-run games to Gardner-Webb and dropping three games this past weekend to Stony Brook (10-3), Akron (11-1) and Winthrop (8-1).
Deacons Vs. Appalachian State...
Wake Forest has been historically successful against the Mountaineers, owning a 28-9 lead in the series history. Last year, the Deacons beat ASU on Opening Day 26-0 and later in Boone, 13-6. Wake Forest has won 14 in a row from the Mountaineers, dating back to 1996.
Greer Approaches 700 Career Wins...
Wake Forest's 17th year coach George Greer stands only three wins away from his 700th career coaching victory at the Division I level and moving into fourth place on the ACC coaching wins chart.
Today's Number to Note is...
.407 - Wake Forest's team batting average in two games last season while outscoring ASU, 39-6.
