TODAY'S TOP STORIES
After Snow Melts, Homestand Continues with High Point...
Thursday's snowstorm wiped out a weekend series with Cincinnati, but the Deacons have added two games with High Point for Sunday and Monday afternoons at Hooks Stadium. Wake Forest will now play six home games in seven days. Three of those games will be against Piedmont Triad rival High Point. The Deacons are already 2-0 on the current homestand including a 13-6 victory over Appalachian State last Tuesday and a 14-5 victory against Liberty on Wednesday.
Greer Goes For 700th Career Win...
Wake Forest's 17th year coach George Greer is only one win away from his 700th career coaching victory at the Division I level and tying for fourth place on the ACC coaching wins chart. Only Bill Wilhelm of Clemson (1,161), Mike Roberts of North Carolina (780), Mike Martin of Florida State (627) and Dennis Womack of Virginia (594) have compiled more victories during their tenure in the ACC. Deacons Vs. High Point...
Wake Forest has a 14-8 series lead against the Panthers and the Deacons have won six in a row. The Demon Deacons are 12-1 against the Panthers during the George Greer era. The only blemish on the record is an April 2001 loss in High Point. Last season, Wake Forest won all three meetings against the Panthers, including a 9-2 road win on March 19 and two home wins, 18-3 (March 25) and 14-2 (May 14).
Today's Number to Note is...
348 - The number of George Greer's victories at Hooks Stadium since becoming head coach in 1988, against only 122 losses for a winning percentage of .740.
