Quoting head coach Charlene Curtis
"We had a good week last week. It was a disappointing loss on Sunday against Virginia, a game in which we had the lead for most of the game, but they down the stretch with LaTonya Blue were able to take the lead and hold on for the win. The players took it hard. It was a similar game to North Carolina and Georgia Tech, but we were just not able to finish it off."
"I am real excited with how the team is playing right now. I would like to see us rebound the ball much better though. That is still our biggest weakness right now. We have to find a way to get better in the future if we expect to win any of our games coming up."
"Liz Strunk had a real good week. She and Erin Ferrell, along with Cotelia Bond-Young continue to lead us. They have been consistent for us all year. Liz got Player of the Week this week. We would have liked to get those three straight wins, but fell a little short in the Virginia game."
"We look forward to the rest of this week. We have NC State at home on Thursday, and then go to Maryland on Monday. We were fortunate to win at NC State earlier this season, but they are playing much better right now. We are definitely going to have our hands full. Maryland is a team that already beat us here at home. So, it will be a challenge as well."
On the definite balance within the league:
"It believe it has been. It has been a trend throughout our league. All the programs have improved, including ours. I think it is hard for people to see from the outside because many think that the teams are not as good. But, the issue is the teams at the bottom, like us, are so much better. They are no sure win games any more. The teams are much more evenly matched. We were fortunate to win two of three games by close margins and Clemson was real tight as well. I think this is the most balanced the league has been in a long time."
