ATHENS, Ga. - Wake Forest junior Karin Coetzee was eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Individual Singles Championship on Tuesday by 10th-ranked Alice Barnes of Stanford, 6-1, 6-3, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga.

Coetzee, ranked 29th in the most recent ITA Singles poll, ends the 2003-04 season with a 28-12 record. The 28 wins in a single-season are the most for any Demon Deacon since Bea Bielik captured 35 during the 2001-02 campaign. For her career, Coetzee has a record of 78-37 -- good for seventh all-time with a .675 winning percentage.

Barnes improved to 39-6 on the season and advances into the round of 16 to face third-seeded Jelena Pandzic of Fresno State.
