WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest junior Karin Coetzee received an at-large invitation to participate in the NCAA Singles Championship in Athens, Ga. from May 24-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Coetzee finished the 2003-04 season with a 26-11 record, including 11-8 in dual action this spring. Coetzee, who was ranked 29th in the most recent ITA poll, went 8-8 in the No. 1 slot for the Deacs this spring. Coetzee was named All-ACC for her effort. The junior is the first Demon Deacon to qualify for the singles championship since Janet Bergman and Bea Bielik in 2002.

Coetzee captured the 2003 ITA Southeast Regional Indoor Championship this fall. She also advanced into the quarterfinals of the 2003 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Coetzee had little trouble with Reyes and cruised with a 6-3, 6-2 straight set victory.

With the spot in the semifinals on the line, Coetzee took the first set over Anda Perianu from Oklahoma, 7-5, but Coetzee dropped the next two sets, 6-0, 6-2. She finished the fall season with a record 14-3 and a 10th ranking in the ITA poll.

The seedings for the singles brackets will be announced at a later date.
