
Women's Tennis Hosts Wake Forest Invitational

Winston-Salem, NC. - - The women's tennis team will host the 2004 Wake Forest Invitational October 1-3 at Leighton Stadium Courts. Play will begin Friday at 9 a.m.
Several Wake Forest players will be in action beginning Friday. In the Flight A singles competition senior Katie Martzolf will be taking on UNCG's Lisa Suggs at noon. Also in Flight A, Jenna Loeb will battle against Douglas Wink of Virginia. In Flight B, Wake Forest freshman Alisha Talbot will face Whitney Miles, also of UNCG, at noon.
Blakely Offutt of Wake Forest takes on Jessica Long of Virginia Tech in the first round of the Flight C draw at noon Friday. Finally, in the Flight D competition, Wake Forest's Danielle Schwartz has a first round bye and will continue play on Saturday.
In Flight A Doubles play, 52nd ranked Martzolf and Loeb received a first round bye and will begin play on Friday at 3:15pm. In Flight B Doubles, Offutt and Talbot will take on the team of Hatch and Piacente of Charlotte at 3:00p.m. on Friday.
Other teams participating in the tournament include Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Tennessee Tech, Winthrop, UNCG, Charlotte, and Davidson.
